Branch Configuration

Branch configuration is Step 3 of the branch creation wizard. It covers academic settings, visual branding, and terminology customization. These settings can also be updated later from the branch settings page.

Academic Settings

Academic settings control how the branch handles calendars, grading, and localization. These affect exam scheduling, report cards, and the overall user experience.

Academic Year Format	Required	select	Determines the academic calendar. Options: "Academic" (April–March), "Calendar" (January–December), or "Custom" (pick your own start/end months).
Custom Start Month	Optional	select	Start month of the academic year (1–12). Only visible when Academic Year Format is set to "Custom".
Custom End Month	Optional	select	End month of the academic year (1–12). Only visible when Academic Year Format is set to "Custom".
Grade Format	Required	select	How student scores are displayed. Options: "Percentage" (0–100%), "GPA" (grade point average), "Letter" (A, B, C, D, F), or "Custom".
Language	Required	select	Default language for the branch portal. Options: English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Chinese.
Timezone	Required	select	Branch timezone used for exam scheduling and deadlines. Options include Asia/Kolkata, America/New_York, America/Los_Angeles, Europe/London, Australia/Sydney, and UTC.

Choosing an Academic Year Format

Most Indian schools use "Academic" (April–March). International schools may prefer "Calendar" (January–December). If your institution follows a non-standard schedule (e.g., June–May), use "Custom" and set the months manually.

Grade Format Options

Percentage — Scores shown as 0–100%. Common in Indian schools and coaching centers.
GPA — Grade point average on a configurable scale (e.g., 4.0 or 10.0). Common in universities.
Letter — Letter grades (A, B, C, D, F). Common in international curricula.
Custom — Define your own grading scale with custom grade boundaries and labels.

White Labeling & Branding

Each branch can have its own visual identity. When learners and instructors log in to the branch portal, they see the branch's logo, colors, and tagline — giving each campus a personalized feel while remaining part of the same organization.

Logo	Optional	file	Branch logo displayed on the portal and reports. Accepted formats: PNG, JPEG, JPG, SVG.
Primary Color	Optional	color	Main brand color used for headers, buttons, and accents. Must be a valid hex color (e.g., #1A73E8).
Secondary Color	Optional	color	Supporting brand color for highlights and secondary elements. Must be a valid hex color.
Tagline	Optional	text	A short motto or tagline displayed on the branch portal. Example: "Excellence in Education Since 1995".

Logo Guidelines

For best results, upload a square logo in PNG or SVG format with a transparent background. The logo is displayed at various sizes across the portal, so ensure it looks clear at both 32px and 200px.

Terminology Customization

BeamEdUp adapts its language to match your institution's vocabulary. When you select a branch type, the platform auto-populates default terminology. You can override any of these terms to match your organization's preferred labels.

Instructor (Singular / Plural)	Optional	text	What to call teaching staff. Defaults by type: School→"Teacher", College→"Professor", Coaching→"Instructor", University→"Faculty", Institute→"Trainer".
Exam (Singular / Plural)	Optional	text	What to call assessments. Defaults by type: School→"Exam", Coaching→"Test", University→"Examination", Institute→"Assessment".

Consistency Across Branches

If your organization has multiple branches of the same type, keep terminology consistent across all of them. This avoids confusion when users switch between branches or view cross-branch reports.
