Guardian Settings

Guardian Settings provides four configuration tabs — Account, Notifications, Privacy, and Preferences. Each tab manages a different aspect of the guardian's experience on BeamEdUp.

Account Tab

The Account tab lets guardians update their personal information and change their password.

Field	Required	Type	Description
Full Name	Required	text	The guardian's display name.
Email	Required	email	Primary email address used for login and notifications.
Phone	Optional	text	Contact phone number for SMS notifications.
Current Password	Optional	password	Required when changing password. Must match the existing password.
New Password	Optional	password	The new password to set. Must meet the organization's password policy.

My Children

The My Children page (accessible from Settings → Children) displays all learner accounts linked to the guardian. This is a view-only page — guardians can see their children's names, emails, classes, and sections but cannot add or remove links.

Managing Child Links

Only organization or branch admins can link or unlink children from guardian accounts. If a guardian needs to add a child, they should contact their institution's administrator.

Privacy Tab

Privacy settings control what information is visible to other users in the organization.

Field	Required	Type	Description
Profile Visibility	Required	select	Controls who can view the guardian's profile. Options: "Teachers Only" or "Only Me".
Show Email	Optional	toggle	When enabled, the guardian's email is visible to instructors.
Show Phone	Optional	toggle	When enabled, the guardian's phone number is visible to instructors.

Preferences Tab

Display and regional preferences that customize the guardian's portal experience.

Field	Required	Type	Description
Language	Required	select	Interface language. Options include English, Hindi (हिन्दी), and Telugu (తెలుగు).
Timezone	Required	select	Controls how dates and times are displayed throughout the portal.
Theme	Required	select	Visual theme preference: Light, Dark, or Auto (follows system setting).

Saving Changes

Each tab has its own Save and Cancel buttons. Changes are saved independently per tab — saving account details does not affect notification or privacy settings. A success notification confirms when settings are saved.
