Publishing Results
Publishing results is the final step in the grading workflow. Once an instructor completes grading, results must be published to make them visible to learners. This two-step approach — grade then publish — gives instructors a chance to review and adjust grades before learners see them.
Publishing Workflow
1
Complete Grading
Ensure all questions in the submission have been graded. The grading progress bar must show 100% completion before results can be published.
2
Submit Final Grades
Click "Submit Grades" on the grading completion panel. This finalizes all marks and feedback for the submission and transitions its status from "Grading" to "Graded".
3
Review Before Publishing
Optionally review the graded submission one more time. Check that marks are consistent, feedback is constructive, and no questions were accidentally skipped.
4
Publish Results
Publishing makes the results visible to the learner. The submission status changes to "Reviewed" and the learner can now see their score, question-level breakdown, and feedback.
5
Learner Notification
When results are published, the learner receives a notification (if notification settings are configured). They can view results from their dashboard or the My Exams page.
Result Visibility Settings
The visibility of results to learners is controlled by exam configuration settings:
- Show Results — When enabled, learners can view their overall score and pass/fail status after results are published. When disabled, results remain hidden from learners entirely.
- Show Correct Answers — When enabled, learners can see which answers were correct and which were incorrect, along with the correct answer for each question. When disabled, only the overall score is shown.
- Allow Review — When enabled, learners can review their entire submission with question-level feedback. This is useful for learning from mistakes.
Auto-Graded Results
For exams that contain only auto-gradable questions (MCQ, True/False, Fill-in-Blanks, Matching), results are available immediately after submission. No manual publishing step is required — the learner can view their score as soon as they submit.
For mixed exams (containing both auto-gradable and manual questions), the auto-graded portion is scored immediately but the full results are withheld until the instructor completes manual grading and publishes. This prevents partial results from confusing learners.
Result Notifications
When results are published, the notification system can alert learners through multiple channels:
- In-App Notification — A notification appears in the learner's notification center within the Organization Portal
- Dashboard Update — The result appears in the Recent Results section of the learner dashboard
- Exam Status Change — The exam status on the My Exams page changes to "Completed" with a "View Result" button
